Why I love dog training
As a kid, I grew up with dogs….lots of them! Dogs have always been a huge part of my life. While stationed in Iraq, my platoon had the opportunity to seek comfort in many of the stray dogs that entered our base. These dogs served as emotional support during such a difficult time. After returning state-side and being medically discharged from the Army, I was faced with numerous challenges that left me feeling hopeless and without the will to go on. After a lot of research, I was lucky to come across American Service Animal Society and had the opportunity to meet with Gerad, our founder and President. This program saved my life! After actually witnessing what a service dog can do, I knew that I had to help other veterans who were struggling, as well. I enrolled in Dog Obedience training and came on as a certified trainer with ASAS. I continue to help our disabled veterans and their dogs come through our program. Giving back and saving lives is why I love being a dog trainer.
